VAT Assistant Manager - London

Prestigious firm of accountants are looking for an accomplished VAT Assistant Manager to join their ranks.

If you enjoy managing your own portfolio of clients and taking responsibility for the delivery of the work, you will find this of interest. Your broad ranging portfolio will require both tax compliance and advisory support. It is expected that you will already have significant experience in VAT compliance; some previous exposure to advisory work would be useful, but not essential as full training will be given.

As part of running your own small portfolio, you will manage more junior members of staff, delegating to them and then reviewing their work. You will liaise with HMRC as necessary and be proactive in building strong relationships with your clients. You will also keep your eye on the WIP to ensure work is completed on budget, informing the Partners of any overruns or risk issues.

As part of the management team, staff management will be a key part of the role as you train and coach as appropriate. In addition you will be monitoring the professional exam progress of the junior team members, lending your expertise where you can and offering constructive feedback to support them.

This role will suit someone who is commercially aware and able to spot potential opportunities for new work on your portfolio. You will also participate in RFPs and ad hoc special projects within the team, in conjunction with more senior staff.

Ideally you will be CTA or ACA qualified, or be able to demonstrate the appropriate level of experience.
